Nestled at the hilltop in the Neora Valley National Park are two picturesque hamlets named Todey and Tangta which were famous for their cardamom plantation. These two villages Todey and Tangta are still hidden from most travelers since Tourism infrastructure is just getting developed here and there are limited tourist accommodations available. However, Todey Tangta can be visited based in Bindu or Jhalong from where Todey village is about an hour drive through Paren and 3 hrs treks towards Tangta from Todey.
Located at the extreme end of the Indian border, adjoining the neighboring kingdom of Bhutan Todey Tangta was primarily important for large yields of cardamom. But in recent years, the yield has declined heavily, due to some widespread fungal diseases to the plants. Tangta is also well known as the gateway to the beautiful Rochelle peak. The further venture can take you to Rachella peak, which is a six to eight hours climb from Tangta. Load-carrying horses are available at Tangta. In Rachella there are many natural lakes. There is a quaint monastery perched at the hilltop of Todey and it consists of about 30 households.
Todey and Tangta can be visited at quite a pocket-friendly price if you plan the tour nicely. North Bengal Guide can help you do the same. The customized Dooars Tour Package will help you explore the destination without bearing any hassle on your own.
The village is also known for medicinal plants with a large medicinal garden known as Chamelidevi Ayurvedic Garden near the Village. The trek towards Tangta has the most astounding view of the adjacent valley and once you reach this quaint hamlet the serene ambiance and the mesmerizing view will leave you spellbound. If you are feeling more adventurous you can further carry on with your trek towards the Rachelle peak or head back towards Todey while taking a dip in the natural hot water spring Dabai Khola which is known for its medicinal purpose.
Bust your stress and isolate yourself from the blustering city noise while seeing the decade-old church with the most astounding view of the hills in Bhutan at Todey feel more alive and close to nature by venturing towards Tangta and rejuvenate yourself by taking a dip in the medicinal water. If you want to enjoy the beauty and serene life of a quaint place then Todey and Tangta are sure to woo your mind with the most wondrous sight of nature in its purest form.
