Located 66km from Darjeeling, Rohini located on the new road constructed to connect Siliguri with Kurseong was a very isolated place and was only known for its Chinese origin tea garden which was planted on the lower part of Rohini. Rohini started gaining popularity as a famous picnic spot among the locals and travelers for its beautiful natural surrounding when Darjeeling Gorkha Hill Council took initiatives to develop the place.
Enriched with splendid beauty Rohini is one of the most popular upcoming tourist attractions of this area. In the past years the transportation system was in a poor shape and the people living there had to depend much on horses and mules, or walked all the way to Kurseong for ration, medical treatment and other important household articles, even the students hiked every day to get to their schools. But after the development initiative was taken by the DGHC the beauty of the spiraling wide well maintained road with breathtaking astounding view surrounding it has blown the mind of many travelers traveling towards the Queen of Hills via Rohini road. Today Rohini draws flock of tourists on its own due to its panoramic view of the surrounding valley and serene ambiance. The Hill Council has built a new tourist resort near bungalow. Earlier there use to be a manmade lake near Rohini but due to flawed construction the lake water started decreasing and now there is no sign of the lake but there has been talks about reconstructing the lake. There are many places near Rohini which has lured the travelers towards it besides being endowed with the scenic view of pictorial sights. A short trek through the dense forests of Lama Goemba near Rohini can be a real adventure for the nature lovers. This is one of the oldest Teak plantations in the region and the hill has a distinctive gray look due to the uniqueness of its vegetation. Dudhia on the bank of Balason River, a popular picnic spot, is only 15 min drive from here. The forests of Bamanpokhari is also nearby, where you can go for a short trek as well. Enjoy the endless beauty of hill and plain region while visiting Rohini.
Be engulfed by the soothing breezes while feasting your eyes with the mesmerizing view of the Siliguri surrounded by meandering river stream along with the view of green lofty mountains cuddling Kurseong from the hilltop of Rohini.
