Tiger Hill is located at a distance of 12km from Darjeeling and is considered a Mecca for tourists visiting the mountains. One has to get up at 4am to make it there in time for sunrise, over the Mount Kanchenjunga range. As the sun appears, the mountain changes color in what is a pretty darn amazing sight. It is the third highest mountain in the world and Everest is viewable in the distance. Every year thousands of people visit Tiger Hill just to experience the breathtaking view of sunrise from Mount Kanchenjunga. An observation place has been erected to let people view the sunrise from a greater height. On a clear day Mount Kanchenjunga is best viewed from this place. You can also see River Teesta and River Mechi flowing down in the South. One can also see the hill station Kurseong from here. Tiger Hill is one of the favourite destinations of adventure enthusiasts. A number of trekking trails takes place in tiger hill. One can also opt for camping in Tiger Hill. While visiting Tiger Hill one may also visit the nearby Senchal Sanctuary which offers great picnic spots. Tiger hill is also a place where you can see a number of migratory birds.
There are small tea shops selling Darjeeling tea and snacks at tiger hill. One can also shop for little things like hand craft items or picture post cards of Kanchenjunga and Darjeeling, etc.
