Suntalekhola is located at a height of 750m and just 5km away from Samsing. Suntalekhola is a village in Darjeeling district of West Bengal. The village got its name from the small stream that flows through it. In Nepali language 'Suntale' means orange and 'Khola' means stream. Suntalekhola is an offbeat destination in the Himalayan foothills. Suntalekhola is famous for the beauty of its hills, forests, tea gardens. Many trekking routes start from Suntalekhola to Neora Valley National Park. One can find variety of birds here such as Greater Necklaced Laughingthrush, Red-vented Bulbul, Ashy Wood Pigeon, Bronzed Drongo, White-throated Fantail, White-throated Fantail, Scarlet Minivet, Common Green Magpie, Long-billed Thrush, Grey Nightjar, Orange-bellied Leafbird, Maroon Oriole, Grey-chinned and Short-billed Minivets, Ashy Bulbul, Slaty-backed Forktail, Sultan Tit, etc. If one wants to enjoy the beauty of this place one or two night stay is necessary. There are WBFDC cottages and private hotels available for the tourists. However the facilities available here are very basic, so one should not expect the availability of all modern amenities here. You can reach Suntalekhola by bus or by private vehicle. The National Highway no 31- A is connected with Malbazar bus and railway terminus. Regular bus service is available to and from Siliguri, Jalpaiguri, Jaigaon (Indo-Bhutan Border Town) etc.
